Core Reports | What is a core report?
Assignment Core Reports
You are the project geologist responsible for an upcoming well in which some full diameter core will be acquired and analyzed. Explain to both your company colleagues and the coring contractor why high-quality core analysis reports are so important.
Solution
It is very important to document the core acquisition processes and procedures, emphasizing any departures from our company’s standard coring and core analysis practices and procedures. Such deviations from our normal operating procedures could include: Unusual coring conditions; alterations to the planned coring fluids composition; changes to the planned wellsite or laboratory core handling and preservation methods; unusual and non-standard laboratory procedures.
The core analysis report needs to have clear wording to ensure that there is no uncertainty as to the specific testing methods which have been used. A comprehensive core analysis report by the coring contractor will allow our company to gain critical insight into the reservoir which has been cored. High-quality core analysis reports are essential for both conventional and unconventional reservoirs in order to maximize their value.
